New Patient Forms

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that the first dental visit occur by age one. For a one-year-old child, Dr. Venezie completes an examination and then spends time talking with parents about how to help their baby stay healthy. An early start to dental care has been shown to result in less tooth decay and less cost in the long run.

As a specialist in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Venezie has many years of training and experience in helping children experience dental care in a positive way. This includes children with anxiety or with special health or behavioral needs. Dr. Venezie will take time to meet you and your child and discuss any special concerns you may have. This enables him to tailor his approach to your child’s needs.

Before the Visit

How you prepare your child for the first dental visit can help to create a positive experience. Please discuss with your child the positive aspects of good dental health, and convey good feelings about dental visits being part of growing up. Explain that Dr. Venezie will look at and count all the teeth.

Please do not tell your child that the dentist will not hurt, because this may have never entered your child’s mind. Instead, explain that Dr. Venezie will be gentle and friendly. You should not use words like needle, drill, shot, or other words that suggest discomfort.

If you expect your child to do well and enjoy the first visit to our office, chances are he/she will do so.

During the Visit

You and your child will be introduced to our dental team, and we will review the health history form with you. Dr. Venezie will perform a head and neck examination and evaluate the health of your child’s teeth and gums. The teeth will be cleaned and fluoride will be applied. Radiographs (x-rays) are taken only as Dr. Venezie feels they are needed. If additional services are needed, they will be scheduled for a later visit.

We strive to make each and every visit to our office a fun one!
