Office Hours

Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
(Closed for Lunch: 1:00 – 2:00 PM)

Friday (once per month): 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

How are Appointments Scheduled?

  • Children four and under will be scheduled between 8:00 AM and 12:20 PM. Young children tend to do best in the morning after a good night’s sleep.

  • Appointments for restorative treatment (fillings, crowns, extractions, etc.) for all children also will be scheduled during the morning hours.

We know that missing school can be difficult for children, but it is not possible for our practice to schedule all school-age children during after-school hours. To allow everyone a fair chance for after-school appointments, the following guidelines have been set.

  • Six-month exam/cleaning appointments for school-age children will alternate between school and after-school hours. This means you will be asked to bring your child for a check-up during school hours only once per year.

  • We make every effort to schedule high school students during after-school hours.

  • If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or fail to keep an after-school appointment, the missed appointment will be rescheduled during school hours.

An appointment time is reserved specifically for your child. If a change in your schedule prevents you from keeping that appointment, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice. Canceling an appointment with less than 24 hours notice or failing to show up for a scheduled appointment is considered a broken appointment.

  • We reserve the right to charge a fee for a broken appointment. A broken appointment prevents us from scheduling another child in need of dental care.

  • Arriving 15 minutes late for any appointment may require rescheduling so we do not keep other patients waiting. Please call if you are going to be late. We will do our best to work you into our schedule.

Your cooperation in complying with these appointment guidelines is appreciated.

May I Stay with My Child During the Visit?

Parents are welcome to accompany their children into the treatment area during the examination. This gives you a chance to see our team in action and allows Dr. Venezie to discuss dental findings and treatment needs with you. For the privacy of others, we ask that only one parent accompany your child into the treatment area.

Based on many years of experience, we know that children do best when parents assume the role of silent observer. If more than one person is talking, your child likely will become confused. Also, Dr. Venezie must establish trust and cooperation directly with your child rather than through you. We encourage siblings and other family members to remain in the reception room.

As your child grows older and more comfortable in our office, we recommend that your child be given the opportunity to accomplish dental visits on their own. Our goal is to help your child grow to be comfortable and cooperative with dental care for a lifetime.

Payment Policies

We ask that payment be made in full at each visit as treatment is rendered. Payments can be made by cash, check, debit card, VISA or MasterCard. Financing plans also are available through CareCredit. As a courtesy to our families who have dental insurance, we will be happy to mail your claim for you. Your insurance company then will reimburse you directly in about 2-3 weeks,

We choose not to accept assignment of insurance benefits for two reasons. First, keeping track of all the different dental insurance plans is very labor intensive. Not accepting assignment allows us to maintain lower overhead costs and keep our fees as reasonable as we can. Second, your insurance plan is a contract between you, your employer, and the insurance company. We have no control over what your plan covers or how the benefits are paid.

  • Please be aware that the parent bringing the child to our practice is responsible for payment of all charges at the time of service.

  • We cannot send statements to other persons.

Facts Regarding Dental Insurance

Fact 1: NO INSURANCE PAYS 100% OF ALL PROCEDURES
Dental insurance is meant to be an aid in receiving dental care. Many patients think that their insurance pays 90%-100% of all dental fees. This is not true! Most plans only pay between 50%-80% of the average total fee. Some pay more, some pay less. The percentage paid is usually determined by how much you or your employer has paid for coverage or the type of contract your employer has set up with the insurance company.

Fact 2: BENEFITS ARE NOT DETERMINED BY OUR OFFICE
Sometimes your dental insurer reimburses you at a lower rate than the dentist's actual fee. Frequently, insurance companies state that the reimbursement was reduced because your dentist's fee has exceeded the usual, customary, or reasonable fee ("UCR") used by the company. A statement such as this gives the impression that any fee greater than the amount paid by the insurance company is unreasonable or well above what most dentists in the area charge for a certain service. This can be very misleading and simply is not accurate.

Each insurance company sets its own reimbursement schedule based on fee information from the claims it processes. Frequently the data can be three to five years old, and these "allowable" fees are set so the insurance company can make a profit. Insurance
